The Phantom here, with a little comment on what's new...
SPX CREATOR.
Version 1.4
Several new features... Removed some bugs with the file error checks and now
it can save unpacked (version 1 RAW) SPX pictures so you can pack the whole
lot with either Ice Packer 2.1, Atomik 3.5 or better still, the internal
packer (use CNVGIZMO.PRG for batch SPX handling). This allows you to batch
pack SPX's using the batch function in the two former packers. When they
tell you that they cannot pack the SPX, use the packing option in the SPX
creator or CNVGIZMO.PRG to pack it (it ALWAYS packs an SPX regardless how
complex it is). I also added a 'Run Other' option. This is so you can
execute an external program (like the batch packers for example). Please
note that the program you execute must release memory properly... SPX
creator needs a minimum of 190K to run! When running another program, SPX
creator releases all the memory it can (it only occupies 25K in itself) so
the application you run will have the most memory available.
Version 1.1
Packing is now slightly faster, but only about 5-10% faster. Also I saw a
little 'error' I made in the disk error checks - they are now corrected.
Finally, I made a little aesthetic change; the disk icon remains 'on' so you
can tell if it is loading or not!
SPX SHOWER.
Version 1.8
After lots of fists flying, and recovering from the stab wounds, this version
is now compatible with Gizmo's format (i.e. now it can display them!!) and
also can display ATOMIK 3.5 packed SPX's (these compress a lot faster and
smaller than with Ice packer 2.1). Also I spotted a bug while using it on
the hard disk Gizmo lent me... It was a very silly bug and I have stamped it
dead! I must say that one little factor that made me do this (and also make
my creator save files similar to Gizmo's) was when Lasse Eldrup (of X-Factor
BBS) told me that when he creates SPX's he uses the batch facilities of
CNVGIZMO.PRG; so now it's all a lot more flexible! Enjoy!
Version 1.7a
I put in a 'proper' high-resolution check since it threw a wobbler when it
was tested with a monochrome emulator. Also I sped up Russ's unpacker by
about 30% so now it's just as fast as Ice (so the uncompressing delays
between the old version and the new one are the same).
Version 1.7
Full support for SPX creator's format plus a few other enhancements like
mouse control.
Version 1.4a
Gizmo came over with his trusty Supra hard disk and his entire creation of
SPX's in it. He told me (and I saw!) that it would be much better if the
little bar in the directory would point to the last file loaded (you should
have seen it - moving the pointer again and again in a 60+ file directory!).
So now I've put that in . Gizmo also told me that some people were wanting a
"view picture in memory" option. So I put that in too! Press V to view the
current picture in memory.
Version 1.4 :
I received a letter from Bertrand Petit (sysop of Imladris BBS - details in
the SPX_SHOW document) stating some things about the logical drive swapping
problems I had. With renewed confidence I went back to Devpac and now the
SPX shower includes drive swapping! Also, Bertrand suggested a help screen,
so I put one in.
The keyboard check has now been beefed up a bit, so other keyboard
configurations (as in other countries!) will work properly with the shower.
Bertrand pointed that out (thanks again).
As I said, any suggestions are very welcome.
Version 1.3 :
There was a little mistake I made in version 1.2 where it would not remove
the bottom border on old shifter chip ST's. Silly little me left a line in
the code which I used to test the shower while I was writing it, and set the
shifter chip type to the new chip after detecting it. I removed the
offensive line and everything is now hunky dory!
